Rain is on the way
January 30, 2006

Really like the softness of this image. The colours are earthy and very effective. cheers

the colors are really nice in here. the clouds have gave the photo a very dramatic look!

Nice composition, well done!
Did u postprocessed this one?

Very god composition, i like this softness tones

Very nice, with the signature Noushin "look" :)

Cool lighting. The softness makes it almost look like a painting. Very nice.

I've just stumbled across your amazing photoblog.. what powers it?

... what a GORGEOUS photo :) how did you make it

You have a very definate style that I find appealing. Great job! It has rained where I live for the past 29 days! This pictures cheered me up! LOL

Good evening,
This is a good shot. Good job at post-processing. Perhaps a bit exagerated contrasted sky. But the result is good.
See you.

this is very nice. i love dark clouds such as these.

Lovely shot. I personally love the sky you have in this, the processing is excellent. Please share your secrets!

These shots are great. Normally I'm not a fan of the soft halos, but all of these images are great.

Rusty stuff is one of my favorite photographic subjects.

That processing is awsome. Normally I would think the power wires would be distracting, but man even they fit right in. Excellent stuff.

Thank you all for visiting and taking the time to comment. I am very glad to see you like what I had done here.

I do post-process, almost all the time. I will leave the information on post-process work done here later tomorrow.

Wow, my jaw dropped a little at this. Really nice photo. Very soft, lovely lighting, and nice colors.

Some really good subject matter and a fine textural sky. The post processing - particularly the halo round the buildings - is rather too obvious though. I would like to have a little more foreground to take the eye into the shot.

This is a great picture – I like the desaturated look and the sky is amazing.

I like the post processing, though it does seem less a photo than art per se. I do like the composition of intersecting lines from the power lines and the roof tops. Very pleasing.

looks like hdri/tone mapping?

Here are some information about the post-processing work for this shot.
I opened the RAW file twice; adjusted it once for the sky and once for the foreground objects. Put each file on a layer in one photoshop file, did some masking to combine both layers. After this I modified the curves, contrast and saturation via layer adjustments. You will need to mask parts of these adjustment layers, so they are not applied globaly and only in the areas that need them. Next, flattened and duplicated that layer, and did some softness filter on top layer.
Lowered the opacity of top layer and masked it to show foreground subjects with no softness.

For softness I use a filter called flux, you can use any softness filters out there. It could even be done with blur effect as long as you play with the opacity/masking of that layer.
I hope those of you who were interested find this info helpful.

Simon, you are right I should have done a better job masking to avoid getting the halo. The foreground was too distracting, that’s why I didn’t show much of it.

Thanks for visiting.
